Las Salinas Area 1
Las Salinas, located in the Zapata National park, has been closed for decades as a government military protected area. The area has been open since 2004 and Lacienagadezapata.com has reliable contacts to book fishermen to this Bonefish paradise. Las Salinas is a beautiful area. The rule at Las Salinas is fly fishing only! The boats are flat-bottomed non – motorized with a maximum capacity of 1 guide and 1 fisherman.
Single fishing only is the rule!
Accommodation is at Hostal El Legendario situated close to Las Salinas and on the beach of Playa Larga.
Another option is fly fishing on Rio Hatiguanico for Tarpon, between 10 – 30 pounds, Snook between 5 – 10 pounds, Snapper, Barracuda and Jack Crevalle. Rio Hatiguanico has been described as Cuba’s Amazon. The boats that the guides use at Rio Hatiguanico have outboard engines with a maximum capacity of 1 guide and 1 fisherman.

The bonefish are plentiful and the average size in much higher than expected. Very few fish weight less than 4lbs
and fish up to 7/8lbs are common. Catching 10/20 bonefish per day is not a problem for an average fisherman.
Permits are also plentiful but not always easy to catch as everywhere else. Our clients also caught many snappers, barracudas,
snooks, jacks and baby tarpons. Still most of the area is untouched
The small 13 feet Hell’s Bay boat (5) for 1 guide and 1 angler are perfect and very fast. 2 bigger 16 feet Hewes boats
for up to 2 anglers will be there very soon to explore the most remote places of our exclusive area.
2 sluice gates were built to keep a good level of water in the channel in order to be able to access the fishing zone
at any time and the works at the boat base are almost finished.
